Prepared for What Comes Next. Grounded in What Matters Most.
At Grace Academy, high school is more than preparation for college or a future career. It is a time for students to deepen their understanding of the world, develop the ability to think independently, and grow in wisdom, character, and Christian conviction.
Building upon the foundations established in Grammar and Middle School, our high school program challenges students to engage thoughtfully with complex ideas, communicate with clarity, and take increasing responsibility for their learning.
As Grace Academy prepares to celebrate its first graduating class in 2028, we are building a high school experience rooted in the classical Christian tradition and shaped by meaningful relationships, academic excellence, and opportunities for leadership.
The Rhetoric Stage: Learning to Communicate with Wisdom
In the classical tradition, the high school years correspond with the *rhetoric stage* of learning.
Students draw upon the knowledge and reasoning skills developed in earlier grades as they learn to express ideas with clarity, defend conclusions thoughtfully, and engage respectfully with differing perspectives.
Through discussion, analytical writing, presentations, and the study of significant works, students are challenged not simply to communicate persuasively, but to speak with wisdom, integrity, and purpose.
A Rigorous and Purposeful Course of Study
Grace Academy's high school curriculum combines a strong foundation in the traditional academic disciplines with opportunities for exploration, creativity, and personal growth. Students engage in:
English Language & Literature: The study of classical and significant literary works, composition, literary analysis, and thoughtful discussion.
History & Humanities: The study of ancient, medieval, modern, and American history, helping students understand the people, ideas, and events that have shaped Western civilization and the wider world.
Mathematics: A progression of courses from Algebra through advanced mathematics, emphasizing conceptual understanding, logical reasoning, and problem-solving.
Science: Laboratory-based study of physics, biology, and chemistry, developing scientific understanding and an appreciation for the order and complexity of God's creation.
World Languages: Continued development of language skills through the study of Spanish.
Theology & Christian Formation: Biblical study, Christian worldview, and apologetics that encourage students to examine their beliefs and apply biblical truth to contemporary questions.
Rhetoric & Communication: Instruction and practice in clear writing, persuasive speaking, critical analysis, and effective communication.
Fine Arts & Electives: Opportunities in visual arts, photography, media, and other courses that cultivate creativity and practical skills.
Preparing for College, Career & Calling
We believe students should graduate with more than a transcript. They should have the knowledge, habits, and discernment needed to make thoughtful decisions about their futures.
Beginning in ninth grade, students participate in our College & Career course, which provides intentional opportunities to explore their interests, identify strengths, consider future educational and career pathways, and prepare for life beyond high school.
Alongside academic advising and college entrance exam preparation, students are encouraged to approach their futures thoughtfully, recognizing that their gifts and abilities are opportunities to serve God and others.
Faith, Leadership & Community
High school students at Grace Academy are encouraged to take an active role in shaping the life of our school.
Through chapel, the House System, service, and opportunities to lead and mentor younger students, they learn that leadership is not simply about influence or achievement, but about responsibility, humility, and serving others.
Our growing high school provides a unique opportunity for students to help establish traditions, strengthen community, and leave a meaningful legacy for future classes.
A Collaborative Partnership
High School students attend classes Monday through Thursday, with Friday designated for independent and home-based learning.
Teachers provide direct instruction during on-campus classes, while students take increasing ownership of assignments, projects, and independent study outside the classroom.
This model encourages strong time-management skills, personal responsibility, and the independence students will need beyond high school.
Friday Extended Learning is available for families seeking an additional on-campus day.
Looking Toward Graduation
Grace Academy looks forward to celebrating its first graduating class in the spring of 2028, coinciding with the school's 20th anniversary. This milestone marks an exciting new chapter in our story as we prepare students for lives of learning, service, and leadership to the glory of God.
