Recitation
The term “recitation” describes both the process of speaking from memory and events where there is a celebratory environment of group reciting. This is a key component of Classical education. Many of the important texts from the Bible/discipleship training and Western civilization/US history form the content that students learn. Students are prepared to recite from memory at an early age which helps allay the normal fears regarding public speaking that can emerge over time. As students develop out of the Grammar stage and into the Logic and Rhetoric stages, they become more confident in their ability to make compelling statements in the public arena. This truly is an amazing gift that make an impact!
