Appalachian State University Home School PE

The ASU Home School PE Program is a part of the ASU Health and Physical Education (HPE) Program. Mr. Byron Towner will oversee the program in the Fall and Dr. Brooke Towner in the Spring. Mr. Towner is a lecturer in the ASU HPE program, is a National Board Certified Physical Education Teacher in early and middle childhood, and has 12 years of physical education experience in both public school and recreational setting. Dr. Towner is a professor in the ASU HPE program, is a certified K-12 Physical Education Teacher and has many years of experience working with children in both academic and recreational settings.

PE instruction days are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00-1:50 PM at the Varsity Gym on the ASU campus. Registration and additional information can be found on their website.


Tailwind Track Club

Tailwind Track Club offers cross-country (August to November) and track (March to June) for area youth ages 6-18. Meetings are Monday and Wednesday evenings with Middle school students and older also meeting on Thursday and Saturday evenings. Teams meet primarily at the Greenway in Boone in the fall and at the Watauga High School track in the spring. Tailwind is a USA Track & Field (USATF) and Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) affiliated club and competes in USATF and AAU meets across the state, region and country.

Watauga Swim Team

Watauga Swim Team is a year round competitive swim team offering high quality, professional coaching for all ages and abilities. The goal is to provide all members an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at their level of ability, from novice to international competitor. Watauga Swim Team is a non-profit club run by its elected Board of Directors which meets each month. All members are welcome at each meeting and encouraged to be involved in team activities and fundraiser.

All coaches, as members of the American Swimming Coaches Association, have access to the most comprehensive training and certification program for youth coaches of any sport in the United State.
